A sea otter keeps one favourite pebble its whole life, in a pouch of skin under its arm. It uses it to crack dinner open. It also gives it to the otter it wants to keep.
That's where Pebbles come from. You earn them for planning the thing, for turning up, for writing down what happened. Not for posting, and not for being seen doing it.
